Effortless when it comes to styling, a long synthetic wig can be the ideal solution for wearers who enjoy length in their hair. Synthetics far out play human hair when it comes to a ‘ready-to-go’ style option as the fibres will stay in the shape wear after wear. Even returning to the style after washing!
Ofcourse, human hair definitely is the way to go with everything considered though. Human hair, although it does require more styling, will have a far longer wearabiity life AND be far less demanding when compared to day to day caring for long synthetic wigs.
So what is it about synthetic wigs that makes them prone to tangling or matting. Why is it that they can feel dry on the ends quicker than other lengths made from the same fibres? Well, it’s all about where the fibre touches your body heat. The longer the wig, the more area of the wig will come in contact with your skin and your body heat. This is the biggest contributing factor for matting issues.
WHY LONG WIGS MATT QUICKER
It’s pretty common sense really, just like biological hair, the longer length hair you have, the higher the maintenance will be. Think of longer hair on a windy day – it will be inevitable that your hair will get spinning around with the wind and show signs of matting together
All things considered though, it is your body heat that will cause the most tangling with your biological hair and with your wearable hair. Wherever your hair touches your body, it is causing it to react with the heat and the fibres will bind together.
This will happen at a far greater rate with synthetic fibres rather than human hair fibres and it is the reason we recommend human hair if you love long wigs. However we also love the beautiful pre-done styles and the convenience of synthetic fibres (especially the Techno Fibre from Petite Wig Company)

CARING FOR YOUR LONG SYNTHETIC WIG
Taking the time to care for your long synthetic wig is going to be the difference between getting the optimum wearing experience for the longest period of time from your style and shortening the life of your long wig dramatically.
There are three simple steps you can do to care for your long wig and safe guard against the wig becoming too matted to save.
- After EVERY wear, take a wide tooth comb and GENTLY work you way from the ends of your wig. This gently untangles any fibres and restores the wig to sit better
- If the wig is Techno Fibre, it will RESPOND VERY WELL TO HEAT up to 150°. Take a straightener (up to 150°) or a tong if it’s a wavy wig, and run it through the ends of your wig. ALWAYS DO A STRAND TEST before applying heat to any synthetic wig.
- Spritz a silicone spray onto the ends of your wig, Simply Stylin is perfect.
